Wild Rice is actually a seed, not a grain. It is grown naturally in aquatic zones, and these healthy "rice" kernels are harvested from the wild. There is no sodium in wild rice and these seeds also are gluten-free. Sometimes referred to as Indian Rice, Water Oats, or Canada Rice, these wild seeds are native to North America and were used hundreds of years ago for Native American diets.
Healthier diets often rely on these wild rice seeds to help with digestion issues, to protect the heart, boost immunity, help with weight loss, slow aging, and it has been found to help regulate blood sugar levels for diabetics. It is also thought to slow aging.
Aside from the health benefits, wild rice has a richer more nutty flavorful kick to it than other rice, making it a specialty rice that brings deeper flavor to rice dishes.
