I used these chestnuts right out of the package in my Yaya's greek chestnut stuffing recipe. It took a whole day (and the least fun part) from making the stuffing. They were fresh and tasty - and NO WORK! Already roasted and peeled - I was quite hesitant, but wonderfully surprised. Better than roasting and peeling myself and no finger cuts! I can spend the bonding time with the kids in some other way.

I love chestnuts, but, they are a pain to peel. These are roasted perfectly and so easy to eat! I eat them right out of the bag as a snack.
The only con is the bag is too small! They're gone to quickly, I need a bigger bag!!!

I use this product as nourishment because it tastes so good. Chestnuts are a seasonal produce item. I am happy there is a place that makes them available all year long. In my opinion the nutrition facts printed on the package prove it is a healthy item for every day consumption. The foil texture of the package makes it easy to reseal in case refrigeration is needed.

These babies are perfect and excellent straight out of the bag. What a treat! When you buy them in the shell, you can't always be guaranteed perfect chestnuts each time, and it can be an expensive waste. These are moist and perfect and so very tasty!

Up until now, i have had to wait until Nov or Dec to get raw chestnuts, then roast & peel them. Many were moldy, or they crumbled when peeled.Usually not worth the effort. Then,I discovered Oh Nuts, and life is so much better. I have always loved roasted chestnuts, for snacking, and cooking a Greek stuffing. Now, I can make the stuffing anytime or just snacking. They are way too good!!

Made a nice creamy chestnut soup with these. They were also tasty out of the package, but would prefer them cooked in some way since they are very slightly mealy and dry as one would expect of a packaged product. Excellent overall.

By purchasing individually well wrapped packages, this allowed easy storing in freezer or refrigerator and therefore continued use for multiple purposes. THe downside of this is that it was impossible to see the nuts and therefore assess the freshness.
They were definitely as good as fresh bought without the work of roasting them. For snacking, however, if you want the drier nuts, these aren't for you. I can only see positives for use in recipes.

I used them,in my famous chestnut and sausage stuffing, at Thanksgiving this year, and it was the absolute best tasting of any of the prior years that I have made it.
It made it so easy, I just opened the package, chopped them up, sauteed them in the sausage drippings, then added them to the stuffing!
It is a pleasure not having to go to all the trouble of roasting them, cutting a big X in the shell, then cooling them, then shelling them!

I love the taste and I don't have the chore of roasting and peeling the nut. It's already done for you. I usually under or over cook the chestnuts. These are perfect. I want to use them in dressing. I have searched the web and found many recipes that I will try for chestnuts.
Usually I only find dry,small nuts at the grocery store and these leave much to be desired. The end result is lousy...poor taste.

For over 100 years the women of our family have been roasting and peeling chestnuts for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I changed tradition with these wonderful peeled chestnuts. They taste so sweet, smell so fresh and not a bad one in the bunch. I order a dozen bags at a time.

I like to watch my fat intake. Most nuts are very high (like 70%+) in fat calories, so I don't like to eat too much of them. But these chestnuts are great. A whole bag is only 4 cal of fat and 208 total calories. A great snack to hold you over. They also are good sliced in salads or fried in soy sauce and added to things like mashed potatoes or on top of chicken or steak.

I have always loved chestnuts. As I grew up and I am 59 today we always had chestnuts during the Christmas season. But they were always so hard to open up, and many were spoiled, but the reward when everything went perfect was tremendous. Being able to buy them in this fashion is so enjoyable. Do they take away from the memories? No! All I have to do is smell them and bite into one and my child hood memories of Christmas begin. Great with your own filling.I cut the Chestnuts into smaller pcs.to use more in your filling.My Wife,Daughter and Son plus the Grandchildren could not believe I purchased these Chestnuts already roasted and peeled.
I used to get about 3lb.for Thangsgiving and Chistmas,make a slit on one end and boil them for 12-15min.then peel by hand. Your fingers would start to wrinkle and kind of get sore.NO MORE OF THAT I WILL PURCHASE FROM OH-NUTS ALREADY PREPARED

Had Happy Holidays!
We've been buying chestnuts at the grocery store for years for my wife's stuffing on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Until this year we have always had the pain (literally!) of peeling them by hand. Anyone who has peeled chestnuts knows the pain of inner skin under the finger nails!
Not only that, but last year she had a small piece of inner skin fly into one of her eyes. What a panic!
But thanks to these wonderful packages of nuts (we bought 4), we had no such troubles. We used 3 packages for the stuffing and reserved 1 to munch on. ANYONE who likes chestnuts will LOVE these!

If you buy fresh chestnut, you still have to cook and prepare them. This packaged product is already roasted and peeled, ready to eat. I always LOVED the taste of chestnuts. I am trying to make "marron glacee" marinating them as per a recipe I found online. This product may not absorb as much sugar as the freshly roasted dry chestnut (because they are already moist) but I love them in any shape or form. I pruchased 12 packets, and enjoy each morsel with delight.

Maybe it's because I live on the West Coast and we have different chestnuts here, but these are yucky in color & taste to me. Most are near black inside (I've only had yellow/cream colored ones) and their taste is weird, yucky. Not at all like the rich & yummy ones I've had. Maybe these are normal for the East Coast but I won't order them again & may not finish eating the order I purcahsed.

i consider these chestnuts an extraordinary find. when i saw them for sale on the net i was dubious at first, but i was happily surprised when they arrived. i eat them right out of the bag, and they are also great with melted butter. you get pure chestnut taste with nothing added. i don't know of anywhere else that you can find "fresh" chestnuts in the off season. if you are a chestnut lover, i garantee you will love these delicious treats. excellent!

Roasted chestnuts with brussels sprouts in a cream sauce has been a Christmas cullinary tradition in my family for 30 years. Since the cost, per ounce, of Italian marrons has grown five fold over the last few years, I elected to try the Chinese equivalent offered by Oh Nuts! under the Gefen brand. Not only are these chestnuts the equivalent of marrons based on falvor, they are superior in texture, maintaining shape after several re-heatings. Superb product at 20% of the cost of European marrons.

Lifelong stuffing up north made with chestnuts. In Florida, when you can obtain chestnuts, they are dry or rotten. We had almost given up, when
I bought 2 bags for Christmas. I did not make stuffing this year, but passed around the nuts.

We are a great fan of cooked peeled chestnuts in two of our favourite Christmas recipes: firstly mixed in with sausagemeat, parsley and cooked onion to form one of the traditional stuffings and secondly thrown in for the last few minutes of the cooking time for brussel sprouts. Wonderful.
Any left over chestnuts are a great addition to home-made soups (particularly those made from root vegetables) giving them a wonderfully rich flavour.

I was so happy to find these chesnuts. They are hard to find in our area (Texas). When you do find them them they are not fresh and they are so much trouble to peel. These are peeled and ready to use by just opening the bag. They are so fresh.I plan to use some in my dressing and some for snacking. Wonderful product !!

I've eaten the first bag mostly as a snack (keep it in the office desk drawer for low energy late afternoon pick-me up!) But now I am curious to try them in some recipes. Like the fact they are already roasted and peeled etc. Takes all the messy work out of it.
No more burnt fingers

I was so delighted to find chestnuts that were already cooked and peeled. When I cook them myself, I always burn my fingers trying to peel them, and the chestnuts are all crubled up by the time I'm finished. A very time consuming and unrewarding job. It was great to have all the work done, anf the price was great also.

Better Than I Expected

I was surprized when I opened the package. Instead of the goo you find inside canned chestnuts, these chestnuts were soft, moist, and whole. I took some out of the package and microwaved them for a few seconds and they exploded with flavor. I made soup with them, and chestnut dressing. What a convienence over having to find fresh chestnuts, roast them, and then peel them only to find out most of them have gone bad.
They were great; good taste & fresh.

These are a rare, useful, and delicious product

We use them over winter squash, in dressings for foul, wuth roasted brussel sprouts, with a duck sauce, and just by themselves The find of the YEAR.

Great for a tree lighting ceremony. We used a campfire pit, and put these chestnuts in a pan to warm them up and called it "chestnuts raosting over an open fire". Much easier/faster than buying normal chestnuts, roasting, than peeling. Most people loved the taste once they got over the texture.

These were far better and fresher than the jarred ones I had previously purchased in a high-end grocery store. I combine them with cream-braised fresh brussels sprouts to make our traditional Thanksgiving side dish. These were so good we ate some of them out of hand. o. I will definitely order these again from Ohnuts.com.

My Mom has always looked forward to having chestnuts around the Holidays but now she lives in Assisted Living and is unable to roast and peel chestnuts on her own. These are the perfect solution...I know she'll be excited to find them when she opens her Christmas box.

i was skeptical about ordering packaged chestnuts. the only thing i was sorry about was that i didn't order more the first time around. i've re-ordered them once already and plan on getting more before the season is gone. highly recommend this product

Eat right from the bag - absolutely delicious. Shared with a few people (trying not be selfish).....I will not roast my own any longer--------these chestnuts are better and no fuss or trying to get chestnuts from the shell. perfectly made..
